  1. AmandaStories« can be run from your hard drive or from the CD-ROM.
  2. Performance will be improved if the files are on your hard drive.
  3.  
  4. The installer will prompt you to select which stories (if any)
  5. you want to install on the hard drive. All 10 stories will need
  6. about 14Mb of space on your hard drive. If you choose to install
  7. none, then AmandaStories« will need only 400K.

  9. AmandaStories« is designed to run with 256 colors. However, it will
  10. run with just 16 colors. If your display is set to greater than
  11. 256 colors, you will be prompted to change to either 256 or 16
  12. colors.

  14. Running under any display mode other than 256 or 16 colors will 
  15. result in color problems, and will be unsatisfactory.

  17. This software was created using Macromedia's Director Player for
  18. Windows, which has problems with some video display boards -
  19. particularly those based on the S3 chipset. Some manufacturers who
  20. use these chips in their display boards include Diamond, Number Nine,
  21. Orchid, Hauppage, and Genoa Systems.  Consult the documentation that
  22. came with your video board if you are unsure of the chip being used.

  24. If you do have a board based on the S3 chip, upgraded drivers should
  25. be available to resolve the conflict.  If you are using a driver
  26. from before December 1993/January 1994, please contact your video
  27. board manufacturer for an updated set of drivers.
